Two and a half thousand years ago, the Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, entered Nirvana, leaving behind sacred relics - symbols of wisdom and eternity.

Three centuries later, Emperor Ashoka of India divided these relicsand sent them across the world to spread the Dharma. One relic travelled along the Silk Road, crossing deserts and mountains, until it reached the heart of China’s Central Plains. There, a pagoda was built to enshrine it - Famen Temple.

During the Tang Dynasty, emperors offered the relics with the highest reverence, and beneath the pagoda, a hidden underground palace was constructed - gold for the coffin, silver for the sarcophagus, and porcelain for the offerings - sealing the light of faith within the earth.

In 874 CE, the chamber was sealed. Over a thousand years later, in 1987, a heavy rain caused the ancient pagoda to collapse. Behind a fallen stone gate, archaeologists uncovered the lost chamber - the Buddha’s finger bone, the Eight-Layered Casket, treasures of gold and silver, and the long-legendary Mise Celadon.

At that moment, what emerged from the darkness was not just porcelain, but a beam of light that had travelled the Silk Road and slept beneath the earth for a thousand years.
