Secret-Hue Celadon is a kind of porcelain made for the royal family among the ancient Yue Kiln celadon in China. It is named because the glaze formula is kept secret. It is famous for its "ice-like jade" green glaze and exquisite craftsmanship. Its kiln temperature control and glaze formula technology represent the highest level of ancient Chinese celadon craftsmanship. It became a porcelain exclusively used by the royal family in the late Tang Dynasty and was established as a tribute porcelain for the court during the Wuyue Kingdom of the Five Dynasties. Yue Kiln celadon declined and was lost with the decline of the Song Dynasty. The number of Secret-Hue Celadons in existence is extremely rare.
In 1987, 13 pieces of Secret-Hue Celadon were unearthed from the underground palace of Famen Temple in Shaanxi. The inscription on the account book clearly records their names and quantities, proving that the firing period can be traced back to the late Tang and Five Dynasties. The Chinese name is Secret-Hue Celadon, and the foreign name is ST color porcelain. This type of porcelain was also discovered at the Housiao kiln site in Shanglin Lake.
